Who is Coolamatong?

Camp Director

Gavin Osborne

Gavin is married to Alison with two great kids, Nicholas and Olivia. Gavin has been part of Scripture Union for around 15 years in a range of roles; from working with children and young people in a range of camping settings, to board chairperson with governance oversight responsibility. Gavin is passionate about seeing children and young people develop themselves, and loves being a part of that process through camping experiences.

Farm Camp Manager

Sharon Burke

Sharon has a long history with Coolamatong and camping. She is a previous intern and staff member and has spent the last 4 years of her professional career delivering education outdoors programs within the independant education system. Sharon loves camping and the outdoors, and is energised by the way that children and young people come to life in the challenging and exciting settings at a place like Camp Coolamatong.

Lake Camp Manager

Mark Francis

Mark has been running camps with Scripture Union since the early 1990's. He has led walks, paddling trips, canoeing trips as well as site based camps and brings a vast history of experience in the outdoors to our team. Mark is passionate about seeing young people thriving in the outdoors, trying new things, overcoming new challenges and being able to reflect on their peronsal growth; and to this end he leads the team at the new Coolamatong Lake Camp. Mark is married to Yvonne and they have two gorgeous girls, Esther and Jasmine.

Maintenance Manager

Andy Packett

Andy and his wife, Lyndl, have two lovely children, Hannah and Jay. Both Lyndl and Andy served as activity leaders at Coolamatong in 1997. Andy is a qualified carpenter who combines his practical skills and love of the outdoors with his passion to see young kids grow in confidence and skill as they are immersed within the caring environment that is Camp Coolamatong.

Kitchen Staff

Dee Sutton, Heather Fearn-Wannan, Steven Leach

Graham Webb

Our team of kitchen staff cook up delicious meals to serve both of our campsites every day. They each have years of experience cooking for large numbers. But beyond just the kitchen, each of these people strongly believe in the importance of children and young people and love to see the camp site buzzing with activity.

Each year young adults serve as Activity Leaders at the campsite. Interns provide leadership on all specialised activities. Interns undertake a Certificate 3 in Outdoor Education whilst working at the camp.

Pastoral Support

John and Julie Jeffery

John and Julie Jeffery provide regular volunteer assistance to support the Coolamatong staff and camp program. John and Julie are wonderful role models to kids about the value of volunteerism. Their generous and caring spirit provide great blessing to all who visit and work at the camp.

Sallyanne Johnson

Sallyanne has experience managing accounts in a number of industry sectors and brings a wealth of experience to Camp Coolamatong. Her friendly and warm personality provides a positive link to suppliers and business administrators from schools and other organisations who camp and work with us.

Boat Skipper

Ken Hutton

Ken Hutton has served at Coolamatong in many and various capacities over an extended period of time. Ken regularly skippers the C.C. Neill on boat trips, taking campers to the 90 mile beach and local National Parks. Ken's long term commitment to Camp Coolamatong is a reflection of his calling to support children's ministry and introduce people of all ages to the beauty of Gods creation so evident in and around the Gippsland Lakes.
