The Camp Tour - School Camping at Camp Coolamatong

Welcome to the Camp Coolamatong Tour

This slide tour will give you the best view of Coola you could have without physically visiting the camp! It includes both photos and explanations of the various aspects of camp life.

Camp Coolamatong is ideally located for the complete outdoor camping experience. Set on 170 acres of bushland, farmland and wetlands, with lake frontage and beaches nearby, there is no place like Coola for the great outdoors!

Coolamatong's wide open spaces, fresh air and diverse flora and fauna provide the perfect setting to enjoy an unlimited number of activities. The wide open spaces are all within reach of the camp which means an excellent array of activities can be readily accessessed by groups as they rotate through the programs.

The magnificent Gippsland Lakes are literally on our door step, offering the ultimate venue for watersports and recreational pursuits, such as canoeing, kayaking, rafting, sailing, fishing and water-skiing. A boat cruise aboard the C.C. Neill allows campers to take in the beauty of the lakes and local coastal National Parks including the 90 mile beach.

Coolamatong has a 'colonial farm' atmosphere, creating heritage appeal that has been maintained throughout all our renovations. Enjoy the warm homestead feeling with wide verandas and large windows providing extensive views to surrounding farmland and bush.

Ensure your camp is all it can be by utilising the following facilities provided at Coolamatong:

  • Games hall with table tennis and a pool room
  • Indoor lounge with an open fire place, outdoor picnic, BBQ and entertainment areas
  • Sports ovals, basketball courts and a beach volleyball court
  • Animal nursery

With all of this plus a range of sporting equipment, including camp unicycles for a challenge, camp free time is sure to be entertaining and exciting.

Camp Coolamatong can comfortably sleep up to 100 campers. We have eight bunks rooms and three cabins.

Each bunk room can sleep six to eight campers, they are all carpeted and heated with two of them ensuited.

Our cabins have two camper rooms sleeping four in each and a seperate leaders room with two beds and an ensuite.


Amenities are located at either end of the bunkrooms with seperate disabled toilet facilities provided in each.

There is also a laundry with sinks, a washing machine and commercial dryer for your convenience.

Dining Hall

Our spacious dining hall seats 130, it connects via a servery to the commercial kitchen. Featuring an open fire and lounge area for those late night hot chocolate or coffee chats and large windows that provide extensive views to the surrounding farm and bushland.

A data projector, PA system, as well as DVD and laptop connections are available for all types of activities ranging from school discos to movie nights.

Dietary Needs

Coolamatong meals are fresh and healthy home cooked meals made onsite. Our kitchen staff are able to cater for a range of dietary needs including: Gluten free, vegetarian, diabetic, lactose intolerance, allergies.

Coolamatong operates from a 'nut free' menu at all times. We do ask that if you have any specific dietary needs, please notify kitchen staff one week prior to camp so that the appropriate arrangements are made.
